(4 out of five of us at the "candy succah")
Chol Hamoed has been great...especially having 5 days now instead of 4!
Sunday we met up with some old friends in Har Nof for a BBQ -- had a great time. We were a little zonked from the travel, though...it took 2.5 hrs there and 2 hrs back with all the bus change-overs. Poor Rich had just enough time to change his shirt and run back out again for a Bat Mitzvah of friends who came in from Balt.
Yesterday we stuck closer to home and took the kids to the mall here for ice cream and we were able to run a few errands.
Side point: Would you believe it took us three tries before we bought the right size shower curtain? Yes...I did say shower curtain. Take note: bathtub sizes here vary tremendously so don't be so brazen to assume you know just what size to buy. It takes time and dedication to do the job right.
Today we went to Yerushalayim to check out a "candy succah" everyone told us about. Sounds exciting, but we were thoroughly confused when we got there.
It was a huge succah with a couple mini succot models displayed and about 20 empty candy dispensers scattered around. Some guys were wheeling around shopping carts full of candy, trying to fill the dispensers. I say "trying" because people kept hoarding around the carts, grabbing fistfuls of candy. Rich and I found the old ladies who were scooping candy with their purses especially funny.
So we think we were too early to get the full effect of the giant succah, but we're still wondering what, exactly, we missed.
We then walked around the Ben Yehudah area a while, got some pizza, and came home. Kids took turns having melt-downs on the bus ride home and a good time was had by all :)
