Rich's first day on the job

Rich is off tomorrow, bright and early to begin his first official job here. Ok...first official part-time job. And it's not exactly here.

He's traveling a bit far for a first day of work-- to Tampa, FL.

Total amount of time he'll be in Tampa: 14 hrs.
Total amount of time in the plane: Over 24 hrs.
Total expected recovery time? One week.
Total allowed recovery time by his 3 sick kids and one haggared wife: 27 seconds (to put his suitcase down).

No matter how much I sympathize with his crazy next few days, I can't help but envy those 24+ hrs of quiet time R has coming to him.

I think after her first child is born, every woman yearns for that long, solitary plane ride (who cares about where you're going).
I'm talking about buying the most ridiculous, brainless magazine you can find, turning up the ipod, and zonning out for 12 hrs, straight. Oh, and giving that mother with the screaming baby exasperated looks- what is with those people with children? :)

Ah- one can fantasize.

But back to Rich...

Right now he's being the amazing husband that he is, and shopping in the market for us for the week, to last through Shabbat. He's been there a while, too, thanks to the complicated list he was given. You try finding oatmeal in Mister Zol in under 20 minutes!

Rich is coming back Thurs evening and then has a wedding Fri at noon in Tel Aviv of one of his old WUJS friends, Mikey. Well worth the trip- Mikey's an amazing guy. But a little complicated with having just returned from the US and Shabbat begins at around 4:30. He does seem to be running around a lot lately, huh?

We'll be missing him here, especially with 2 out of 3 running fevers.

We told the kids to hug Abba goodbye before bed - he'll be gone before they get up.

Gali was cute...she asked me "Will you miss your husband?" As if we were both grown women sitting at tea, discusing our families.

Nesia tova, and refuah shleima. Tell him to sleep as much as he can on the plane, because he won't be getting much sleep when he gets back...
